Creative Head
Michaela Schleypen is a passionate textile and interior designer
focussing on flooring and exploring her own
unique language for all kinds of surfaces - mostly with a stunning
three dimensional character. Michaela
turns carpets into fascinating objects, private interiors into areas
of desire, yachts into swimming beaches,
and hotels into real homes.
Born in Germany in 1968, Michaela Schleypen started her career at the
early age of 18, studied art, design
and marketing, lived in Hongkong and New York. All along, she never
lost track of her dream: one day
being an internationally renowned carpet designer. Success literally
came over night with her breathtaking
design ZEN, a hand-tufted and hand-carved carpet resembling a Japanese
sand garden even including the
obligatory stone.
Exhibited all over the world, prize-winning ZEN was celebrated not
only by international interior magazines
like Elle Decoration and Architectural Digest.
Describing herself, Michaela Schleypen claims "floorpassion"
as an addiction, where her creative mind is
challenged every single step of the way. Today, she looks back on 15
years of experience as a carpet
designer. After more than ten years as head of creative development
for an internationally acclaimed label,
Michaela established her own label "floor to heaven". Now
she is able to create her own floor couture supervising every step of
development, production and marketing.
